The organizations and resources listed are available for your reference and use in assisting your patients. The organizations are not affiliated with EyeCare America or the American Academy of Ophthalmology nor does their inclusion imply endorsement of their goods or services by EyeCare America. In like manner, EyeCare America has not solicited their endorsement. Lenscrafters Foundation’s “Give the Gift of Sight” Program Non-profit agencies and social service organizations can apply on behalf of individuals in need of glasses through this program. Children may also qualify for vision screenings. Contact your local Lens Crafters for more information.

  1. Local Lions Clubs may provide eyeglasses or assistance for individuals with vision care needs. They may also know of other local resources in your area. Contact your local Lions Club for more information. To locate the Lions Club nearest to you, contact either the Chamber of Commerce or your local phone operator or visit www.lionsclubs.org.

  2. New Eyes for the Needy | 973-376-4903
    Provides vouchers for new eyeglasses for those with financial need with no other resources, public or private, to pay for glasses. Program accepts applications from third parties such as social service agencies or health professionals who are able to document financial needs of clients.

  3. Prevent Blindness | 800-331-2020
    Patients who participate in a vision screening through Prevent Blindness, a Prevent Blindness affiliate or one of the organization’s many health program partners, and receive a referral for an exam to an eye care professional, may then bring their new prescription with the card to participating locations.   4. Respectacle
    User needs to enter his/her prescription and fill out some basic demographic info. Used eye glasses will be mailed within 7-10 days of order. No additional paperwork or questions asked. Info – http://www.respectacle.org/faq

  5. SCHIP – State Children’s Health Insurance Program
    In this program, eligible children receive regular check-ups, doctor visits, immunizations, prescription drug coverage, eyeglasses, and hospital care. Call 877-KIDS-NOW for more details.

  6. Vision Service Plan – Sight for Students
    This program operates nationally through a network of community partners. Vision Service Plan makes free eye care and eyewear available to needy children 18 and under who qualify. Call 888-290-4964 for more details.

  7. EyeBuy Direct
    This is a web based organization selling generic frames and lenses for as little as $8.

  8. 39 Dollar Glasses
    This is a web based organization that offers discounts up to 70% on prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. Contact them at the web address above, or at toll-free 800-672-6304 for more information.

  9. Zennioptical
    This is a web based organization selling generic frames, including lenses with antiscratch coating for as little as $8.
